Dr. Katie Schubert, LMHC, CST, specializes in sex therapy, couples therapy, gender issues, sexual functioning, sexually compulsive behaviors, and communication.
Hi, I’m Malini, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I work with adults, couples, and families (no minors), with a clinical focus on OCD, anxiety disorders, specific phobias, and exposure-based treatment, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
I’m the child of immigrants, with parents from Trinidad, and I identify as Indo-Caribbean. This background deeply informs my work, particularly with South Asian, Indian-Caribbean, and immigrant clients navigating marital pressure, family expectations, gender roles, and cultural identity stress. I understand firsthand how cultural values can shape responsibility, independence, and relationship dynamics, often in ways that are both supportive and challenging.
My approach is direct, warm, and collaborative. I value clarity, practical tools, and honest conversations, and I also believe that therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. I bring humor and levity into the therapy space when appropriate, helping clients feel more at ease while doing meaningful work.

It can be a struggle to keep it all together. You're not alone. It's been a really difficult couple of years. I will help you explore in a safe and accepting space so that you can start to feel good again.
Imagine feeling more relief and alleviating the anxiety and fear that have become overwhelming. Together, we can lift painful thoughts and help you to gain tools and understandings that bring the light in again.
In working with me, you can have access to an approachable therapist that uses evidenced-based tools, but woven into a safe therapeutic relationship. I look forward to working together.

Many women of color carry trauma that was never given language, safety, or space to heal. You may appear strong and high-functioning on the outside, yet feel emotionally overwhelmed, hyper-alert, disconnected, or exhausted beneath the surface. If you’ve experienced childhood trauma, relational wounds, chronic stress, or emotionally unsafe environments, your nervous system may still be operating in survival mode. My work is centered on supporting women who are navigating trauma. I understand the cultural, generational, and systemic layers that often complicate healing, including the pressure to suppress emotions or “push through".
