Phyllis Taliaferro LCSW-R is a seasoned psychotherapist. She graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Social Welfare. She acquired her Master’s Degree there. I have had the pleasure of practicing psychotherapy for more than 15 years helping adolescent and adults in both individual and family therapy. As a minority LBGTQ+ identified therapist, you and I will utilize Cognitive Behavior to explore and examine your thoughts, feelings and behaviors towards more rationally conscious and healthy patterns
I follow the concept that therapy can heal emotional pain, improve relationships and increase self-understanding. Beginning therapy can often be intimidating, but can make a big difference in your ability to cope with challenges or make sense of what has happened so you can gather the skills to move forward. I am open to addressing unresolved or present barriers in your life, guide and help you make sense out of your own thoughts ideas and conflicts (situational).
I have 15 years of experience working with individuals in a variety of capacities. In my practice, I have found that no one story is alike and the path to our best self is as unique as the individual being supported.
I am skilled across the age spectrum and specialize in supporting adolescents & adults who have experienced vicarious or first-hand trauma.
I utilize culturally sensitive practices and I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.
I graduated from NYU in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness and am finalizing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Pace University. I have experience working at mental health clinics, schools, and outpatient settings. I support children, teens, adults, and families with trauma, attachment needs, mood concerns, acculturation stress, and relationship challenges.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I am passionate about helping individuals create
meaningful change in their lives through a collaborative, supportive, and empowering therapeutic process.
I specialize in working with adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or
feeling stuck.
Rather than focusing only on problems, I work with clients to uncover their strengths, develop practical
skills, and reconnect with their values. Whether you’re dealing with past trauma, daily stress, or seeking
personal growth, therapy can be a space for insight, healing, and real change.
I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University and bring both clinical training and
deep compassion into every session.
As a therapist, LCSW in Florida and LCSW in New York, I have over 20 years experience working with children, families and adults, I will help you identify unhealthy obstacles in your life and assist you in the process of learning and applying new solutions and skills with realistic strategies that can work for you and your family.
I earned both my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work Degrees from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. I am licensed in the state of New York. I am a dedicated professional with a passion for working with individuals, couples, and families.
