Hello, I’m happy to meet you and begin working with you as a therapist who specializes in trauma. The following information includes my professional background, the therapeutic services I provide, and the rights and responsibilities that will guide our work together. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you have.
My Education and Experience: I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, a master’s degree in Sociology with a clinical emphasis, a doctoral degree in Applied Sociology with a clinical specialization, and I’m a Certified Clinical Sociologist through the Association of Applied and Clinical Sociology. I completed a master’s degree in clinical social work (MSW) with a specialization in Trauma and Interpersonal Violence in 2022 and am a fully licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I earned my previous degrees in Kentucky from Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville. I completed my MSW through Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. My past clinical work has focused on family preservation and child welfare through in-home crisis intervention, family reunification services, parenting education and independent living skills, supervised visitation for children residing in foster care, and custodial mediation and visitation for co-parenting separated or divorced couples. I’ve also worked for the states of Kentucky and Virginia as a child welfare analyst, consultant, and educator. Additional work has included forensic interviewing, case management support for child advocacy centers, and expert testimony in court cases involving child maltreatment and domestic violence as a Qualified Mental Health Professional in (QMHP) Virginia and Kentucky.
Even in the middle of trauma, heartbreak, and uncertainty, still you can find joy. Even Still was born out of my deeply held belief that following the toughest moments of life, a comma lingers. A comma that signals the story is not over and there is light to be found in the darkness. It is my responsibility and deepest pleasure to be your guide in self-discovery and healing. I believe that by being genuine and providing unconditional acceptance, I can create space for vulnerability and growth.
Greetings! Therapy is a team effort - no one should face life’s challenges alone. I work with people from all walks of life – teens, young adults, older adults, veterans, a diversity of races, ethnicities, religions, sexualities, gender identities, socio economic statuses, and worldviews. I have knowledge and experience working with people struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Trauma and Stress-related Disorders, Life Transitions, Grief, Chronic Illness and Pain, Identity Development, and Relationship Dynamics.
If you are seeking a supportive, judgment-free zone to sort through challenges, get unstuck, and become the best version of yourself, you’ve come to the right place. I welcome you to get curious as we uncover what makes you “you” and discover methods that will lead you to fulfillment and peace. Allow me to walk with you, you don’t have to walk alone.
Please call me Kat. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama. I am a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) and a Certified Integrative Couples Therapist. Currently, I am in the process of obtaining certification as a Sex Therapist through AASECT and a certification through AANE to work with neurodivergent couples. I practice within a sex-positive, LGBTQ+ affirming, gender-equitable, and racially just environment that is inclusive of all identities and immigration statuses.
I’m a Raleigh-based licensed clinical mental health therapist offering services across North Carolina. I work with adolescents and young adults and specialize in anxiety management, emotional resilience, and relationship building.
I take a person-centered approach, meeting each client where they are with compassion and respect. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered.
I incorporate Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help you move toward the future you want. Together, we identify your existing strengths and skills, building on what’s already working while exploring what can be done differently to support meaningful change.
This approach emphasizes your present circumstances and future goals, helping you create practical, forward-moving solutions rather than staying stuck in the past.
I have been practicing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) since 2018. I have enjoyed working with both adolescents and adults, with a wide range of mental health needs. I particularly enjoy working with treatment- resistant depression and anxiety.
